Semmes Street Lighting Project-Phase I
You may have noticed new street lighting throughout the Semmes community. This is Phase 1 of the “Semmes Street Light Project” that the City has started in order to improve traffic safety.
The City has entered into an agreement with Alabama Power to install 19 LED street lights in various locations throughout the City. The locations that were chosen for “Phase 1” were mainly curves and intersections.
The City chose LED street lights because they are safer, require less maintenance and use less electricity, which equals lower costs.
The Public Works Committee is currently working on identifying locations for Phases 2 & 3. If you would like to be a part of that discussion, the Public Works Committee meets the first Monday of the month at 4pm. We welcome your input. City of Semmes Public Works
