Camellia Maids Welcome New Court and Reveal Dresses for Upcoming Season

In November, the new court of Camellia Maids were welcomed. A brunch was held for the dress reveal and first meeting. The new Camellias are excited to represent the City of Semmes and are open for appearances. Please email [email protected] to schedule an appearance.

Christmas in Semmes has officially begun!

The Semmes tree was lit following a countdown by the community at the tree lighting event on November 23rd. There was holiday entertainment, visits with Santa, and even a Christmas Carnival. The Community shopped all day from the over 60 vendors in the Christmas Market. It was a wonderful Hallmark event.

Special City Council Meeting!

There will be a special city council meeting November 13, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., at Semmes City Hall Council Chambers to consider a termination agreement with NextSite, LLC.

The new Publix on Schillinger Road opened in October. Go by and check it out if you haven't already! We are so excited to have this new addition in Semmes!

Fire Station off Schillinger Road getting close to completion

The new Fire Station off Schillinger Road (Future Station 1) is getting closer to completion. During the month of October the sign was installed, concrete was was completed, and the landscaping was started. The interior has come a long way with the ceiling grids installed, cabinets mounted, tile completed, etc. The Station plans to be on this year's Semmes Christmas Tour and Shop Hop.

A new Dollar General Market is coming to Semmes

A new Dollar General Market is coming to Semmes! It will be located near the gas station at the corner of Wulff Road and Snow Road. Plans for the project have been submitted and approved. The company will begin pulling permits for the project soon.

Building permits will be issued soon for the new Aldi!

Building permits will be issued soon for the new Aldi transition, pending the submittal of landscaping bonds to improve beautification of the area and adhere to current regulations.

Taco Bell to Replace Colonel Dixie

Taco Bell is in progress. Plans for the project have been submitted. The company is waiting on Health Department approvals to move forward. Demolition of the current building (was Colonel Dixie) will begin soon.

New Accessible Water Feature Coming to Viking Park Next Season!

The Water Feature/ Splash Addition at Viking Park behind the Community Center will be well loved by the Community next season. The night light features and water sprayers were completed in October. The water comes out at different time intervals making it exciting play. Since it's the off season for this amenity, the City has decided to go a step further and make it wheelchair/ handicapped accessible. The accessibility structures, shade, and benches will be added over the next few months.
