The County’s plans to purchase the Semmes Public Library building from CVS Health are moving forward according to Mobile County Attorney Jay Ross. The County is currently awaiting the delivery of the purchase agreement and the schedule of closing from the attorneys representing CVS, the corporation that owns the property. Once received, the County will execute the final documents and close on the property purchase. The County Commission agreed on June 26 by a 2 to 1 vote (Hudson and Ludgood were affirmative, Carl was opposed) to purchase the property for the appraised value of $1.3 million in order to ensure a permanent home for the library which offers regional services to citizens primarily in west and northwest Mobile County.
